Three Teenagers Escape Injury in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 36

ROSE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 2:39 p.m. on April 26, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 36, at its intersection with Pansy-Ringgold Road, in Rose Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, 19-year-old Garret Hoffman, of Summerville, and 18-year-old Joseph B. Burkett, of Coolspring, Pa., were involved in the collision.

Police say both vehicles were traveling north on State Route 36. Burkett was stopped and turning left onto Pansy-Ringold Road in his 2012 Ford Focus. Hoffman failed to stop and struck the rear of Burkett’s vehicle in his 2008 Chevrolet HHR.

Hoffman’s vehicle continued approximately 10 feet after the impact and came to rest facing north in the northbound lane. Burkett’s vehicle came to a controlled stop in a parking lot on Pansy-Ringgold Road, police say.

Both drivers and a passenger in Burkett’s car, 18-year-old Maranda L. Neal, of Punxsutawney, were using seat belts and were not injured, according to police.

Punxsutawney-based State Police were assisted at the scene by Pine Creek Township Fire Department and Jefferson County EMS.
