WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Jefferson County man is the victim of a loan scam.
DuBois-based State Police say that between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, a 28-year-old Reynoldsville man was contacted via text message by an unknown person who claimed that he was approved for a $10,000.00 loan through One Main Financial in Louisville, Kentucky.
After the victim made contact with the unknown individual, a $300.00 payment was requested.
Following a $300.00 Google Play card payment made by the victim, another $1,100.00 payment was requested by the unknown individual.
The victim then requested his money be reimbursed; however, it was not returned.
The investigation is on going.
