According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, 18-year-old Nathan L. Shoemaker, of Templeton, was traveling eastbound on Dayton-Smicksburg Road, and the right side tires of his 1994 Ford F-150 pickup exited the south side berm of the roadway.

Police say Shoemaker tried to correct the vehicle and counter-steered to the left, causing the vehicle to enter back onto the roadway. The vehicle crossed into the westbound lane of travel, and Shoemaker counter-steered to the right.

The vehicle began to rotate clockwise and crossed back into the eastbound lane of travel, exited off the south side of the road, impacted the embankments with its driver’s side, and overturned onto its passenger’s side. Then, the vehicle came to a final rest facing to the west in the eastbound lane, according to police.

The vehicle sustained a disabling amount of damage and was towed from the scene by Southside Towing.

Shoemaker was using his seat belt and was not injured.

Dayton Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Police say charges against Shoemaker are pending.
