State Police Calls: Two DUIs Under Investigation

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – State police are investigating the following DUI arrests:

DUI Alcohol in Young Township, Jefferson County

Around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, troopers from Punxsutawney-based State Police initiated a traffic stop on a 2013 silver Kia Sorento on Harmony Road near Pickett Road in Young Township after the driver of the vehicle failed to discontinue the vehicle’s high beams while traveling northbound on Harmony Road.

Upon making contact with the driver, troopers detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle and from the breath/person of the driver along with other signs of impairment.

Troopers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle and SFST (Standardized Field Sobriety Tests) were administered.

The driver of the vehicle – a 56-year-old Punxsutawney woman – was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital for a chemical blood test.

The investigation is ongoing.

DUI Alcohol Crash in Brady Township, Clearfield County

Around 6:45 p.m. on March 3, DuBois-based State Police were dispatched to Saddle Club Road/Coal Hill Road, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, for a two-vehicle crash.

After further investigation, one of the drivers – a 54-year-old DuBois man – was suspected of DUI and transported to Penn Highlands DuBois for a chemical blood draw.

The vehicles involved in the crash were a 2015 Ford F350 and a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

The investigation is ongoing.
