PSP Punxsy Warns Drivers to Be Extra Cautious Over the Holidays

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C, Punxsutawney issued the following Media Advisory:

Captain Bernard J. Petrovsky, Commanding Officer, Troop C, Pennsylvania State Police, Punxsutawney, is asking drivers to be extra cautious while traveling throughout the Commonwealth over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The holiday season is eagerly awaited and anticipated by young and old alike. Don’t let a moment of carelessness turn this season into a tragic memory of an automobile crash. Let the spirit of Christmas, not the spirits govern your driving.

Troopers will be aggressively patrolling our roadways, placing special emphasis on Driving Under the Influence, along with controlling the speed of traffic to help make our highways safer over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

We remind motorists that we have already experienced adverse driving conditions this winter, and we need to be prepared to deal with hazardous winter driving at any time. Make sure your car is prepared for winter by having good tires, good windshield wipers, and anti-freeze. It is also a great idea to carry a vehicle emergency kit that contains items such as warning devices (flares), anti-skid (kitty liter), a blanket, and a shovel.

On behalf of the Pennsylvania State Police and all members of Troop C, I wish to extend to everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
