Punxsutawney Boys’ Soccer Falls to Quaker Valley in PIAA 2A Quarterfinals


SOMERSET, Pa. (D9Sports) – The Punxsutawney soccer team gave up three second-half goals and fell to WPIAL champion Quaker Valley, 4-2, in the PIAA quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Somerset High School.

The District 9 champion Chucks fell behind 4-0 before rallying for two late goals.

Franky Fernandez had a goal and two assists for Quaker Valley, while Dom Reiter had a goal and an assist and Fritz Reiter and Fisher Hemwall also tallied goals.

Punxsutawney’s goal scorers were not reported.

Quaker Valley will play District 10 champion Slippery Rock in the semifinals Tuesday at a site and time to be announced.
