According to police, Clarence J. Craft, 53, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south on SR 119 in the Borough of Sykesville, in a 2004 Jeep Wrangler and allegedly became distracted while using a handheld cell phone to either place or receive a phone call.
Craft’s vehicle drifted to the right and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was parked along East Main Street, just west of Dr. Fugate Drive.
The parked vehicle was pushed approximately 33 feet and came to a rest on the steps in front of Grace United Methodist Church.
Craft failed to stop and fled the scene traveling southbound on SR 119.
The Jeep Wrangler became disabled a short time later and was stopped by State Police Troopers from the Punxsutawney Station.
Craft was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries.
Police determined that he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently arrested for DUI.
