Punxsutawney Man Allegedly Grabs Woman By Throat, Throws Her Off Porch

arrestedPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing charges after he allegedly grabbed a woman by the throat several times and threw her off a porch.

According to a criminal complaint, police responded to a phone call from Daniel Paul Reddinger, 26, of Punxsutawney, around 3:43 a.m. on July 11, who said a woman tried to come into his residence and bite him and the woman had driven off while intoxicated.

Police were able to locate the vehicle the woman was driving and initiate a traffic stop where the female driver “appeared upset and crying,” the complaint indicates.

The woman told police she had been out drinking with a girlfriend who dropped her off at Reddinger’s residence “because they were to be working on things even though a protection from abuse order had been issued for Dan not to have contact with (the victim),” the complaint continues.

The woman said Reddinger had told her “she was welcome anytime and she could use the spare key” to enter the residence, the complaint states.

The woman entered the residence and woke Reddinger up and they began an argument which turned physical, with Reddinger allegedly saying ‘You really wanted to see how bad this can really get?” according to the complaint.

At that point, Reddinger allegedly grabbed the woman by the throat and slammed her on the couch, holding her there for some time before she got up and tried to find her belongings, and he grabbed her again and pulled her out of the house, “throwing her off of the front porch onto the side yard,” the complaint states.

The woman said she went back to the porch and knocked on the door trying to get her belongings including her glasses since she couldn’t see and Reddinger allegedly argued with her and grabbed her by the throat, pushing her out the door, then calling police as she drove off, the complaint continues.

Police spoke with Reddinger, who allegedly said the woman came into the residence screaming and trying to bite him, and he had to restrain her. Reddinger allegedly admitted he pulled the woman outside and threw her off of the front porch onto the side yard, according to the complaint.

The complaint notes “it is known to (Officers Marshall and Aharrah) that this is an ongoing thing and that Daniel Reddinger has a past with physical altercations.”

Based on the information gathered during the investigation, Officer Marshall requested a warrant be issued for Reddinger.

According to online court documents, he was arraigned at 8:00 a.m. on July 18 before District Judge Douglas Chambers in District Court 54-03-01.

He faces the following charges:

  • Aggravated assault, first-degree felony

  • Harassment subjecting another to physical contact, third-degree misdemeanor
