Punxsutawney PSP Issue Thanksgiving Holiday Traveler’s Advisory

State Police patchPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Captain Bernard J. Petrovsky, Commanding Officer, Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C, Punxsutawney, would like to advise motorists to use good common sense while traveling throughout the Commonwealth over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The combination of family gatherings, Christmas shopping, and the opening of deer hunting season will make the Thanksgiving holiday one of the heaviest traveled holidays of the year.

Always keep in mind this time of year the weather is unpredictable.

You must be prepared for less than normal driving conditions and be certain your car is properly winterized.

Alcohol and vehicles are never a good combination. It is very important to be aware that a vehicle is not only referring to your typical car, truck and SUV; ATVs, motorbikes, and snowmobiles are classified as vehicles as well.

Operation of any device that has wheels and can transport a person or property after imbibing enough alcohol to have a BAC of .08%, or less in some instances, will certainly result in a DUI.

A goal of the Pennsylvania State Police is to see that all children are secured properly in an approved child safety seat and see to it that the seat is fastened to the vehicle correctly.

It can be a hard task to get a child seat installed properly.

Please read the instructions and take time to learn the correct use.

Please drive carefully and remember, seatbelts and car seats save lives.
