Punxsy Eateries Team Up To Make Huge Pizza For Community Center

big pizzaPUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) — To commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the Punxsutawney Area Community Center, a number of area pizzerias and organizations are uniting to make a 400-square foot pizza Sunday.

The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the gym at the Community Center.

The pizza will be 20 feet long and two feet wide.

People attending the matinee, the Lego Batman movie, at the Jackson Theater will receive a free slice of pizza, others will be able to purchase a slice for $1.

The money raised will benefit the Community Center.

Leftovers will be donated to area shelters.

Groups participating include Punxsy Pizza, IUP Culinary School, the New Anchor Inn, Laska’s Pizza, Hoover’s Subs and More, Pizza Town, the Groundhog Club and Fox’s Pizza Den.

Punxsy Phil, Inner circle members, the mayor and others will be present.

Also, it will be a sendoff/practice run for Punxsy Pizza’s Scott Anthony to participate in www.longestpizza.com  in which pizza makers from across the nation will assemble to set a Guinness world record on April 9.

The longest pizza event will be at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. about 45 minutes northeast of Los Angeles with all the proceeds and product to go to the local homeless shelters and food banks.
