PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Members of the community will have a chance to meet Devin Mesoraco, catcher for the Cincinnati Reds, and their local volunteer firemen and also contribute to a good cause today as part of ‘Punxsy Pizza and Prevention.’

This event, in its 13th year, was designed to promote disaster prevention and awareness.
Devin Mesoraco, catcher for the Cincinnati Reds, will be making a guest appearance today and will be helping make pizzas.
Local firemen will deliver pizza during the event and check each customer’s smoke alarm in the process. For those who are in need, free smoke detectors and batteries will be provided by Kengersky Insurance, with 1000 smoke detectors available. Pizza is also available for pickup.
Punxsy Pizza plans to donate 100% of sales from the event to the Punxsutawney Fire Department.
Bud Anthony, owner of Punxsy Pizza, told exploreJeffersonpa.com, “I am very excited to be participating in this event. We opened this business in February, and we are working hard to make this event a success.”
“We are folding pizza boxes right now, and we just hit the 1,000 mark.”
The event, sponsored by Punxsutawney FOE, will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Punxsy Pizza.
