Punxsy Man Accused of Stealing Woman’s Car While She Was Incarcerated

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing criminal charges for allegedly stealing a woman’s car while she was incarcerated.

According to court documents, the Punxsutawney Borough Police filed criminal charges against 43-year-old Jeremy J Aldinger on April 5.

The Punxsutawney Borough Police received information regarding an incident of unauthorized use of an automobile on April 3, according to a criminal complaint filed in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office.

A known victim reported that she was taken to jail the second week of October 2018. The victim stated that she had driven to meet with her probation officer in the Punxsutawney office located on North Findley Street and had parked in the Flashover Firemans’ Club parking lot after traveling there with Jeremy “Jay” Aldinger, according to the complaint.

The victim told police that she then asked Aldinger to drive the vehicle, a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu, to her mother’s residence on State Route 119 in Marion Center. However, while she was incarcerated, she discovered that Aldinger had never returned her vehicle. The victim noted her mother contacted Aldinger multiple times requesting the vehicle be brought to her residence, but he never brought it there, and then stopped taking her phone calls, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, when the victim was recently released from jail, the vehicle came up during a conversation with her probation officer, and it was then suggested that she file a formal complaint with police.

The victim also reported she had personal belongings in the vehicle when Aldinger took it, including photos and items of sentimental value, the complaint states.

The complaint notes that the victim stated as of when she reported the incident, she still had no idea where her vehicle is or what Aldinger did with it.

The following charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on April 5:

– Theft by Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
– Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on May 11.
