handcuff-300x225PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing assault and related charges stemming from an incident that occurred at a business in Punxsy Plaza.

According to court documents, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Brandon Michael Krug, of Punxsutawney.

According to a criminal complaint, on June 13, Punxsutawney Borough Police Officers were dispatched to a store in the Punxsy Plaza for a report of a disturbance. When officers arrived on the scene, the shift manager ran outside the store and Brandon Michael Krug ran inside. Officers went inside the building and Krug allegedly resisted, so officers physically removed him from the store.

The complaint states that Krug was arrested and taken to the Punxsutawney Police Station and three store employees gave written statements.

The complaint indicates that the shift manager and Krug engaged in a verbal altercation in the store’s office. The shift manager left the office, and Krug allegedly followed her, punching and kicking products from the shelves. As the shift manager continued to walk away from Krug, he became “even more mad at her. Two store employees became scared to the point that they asked to leave the store.”

When one of the employees got to the store door, Krug “grabbed her by the arm and stomach and tried to keep her in the store. (She) was able to get away from him, and he chased her to her car. (She) was able to get into her car, and (Krug) went towards (the other store employee). (She) was able to get into her car and drive away,” the complaint continues.

“(Krug) then ran across the parking lot towards the front of the store, but (the shift manager) locked the doors and called the police. (Krug) yelled through the glass that she was dead to him and that she would pay for this,” according to the complaint.

Krug was arraigned at 3:30 p.m. on June 13 in front of Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers on the following charges:

  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2 (two counts)
  • Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2 (three counts)
  • Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1 (three counts)

Unable to post $50,000.00 bail, Krug was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on June 23 with Judge Chambers presiding.
