Punxsy Man Busted for Meth Following Traffic Stop

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing criminal charges after being caught with a digital scale and methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney-based State Police filed criminal charges against 40-year-old Michael Paul Dixon.

According to a criminal complaint, around 9:49 p.m. on February 17, Trooper Pisano, of the Punxsutawney-based State Police, conducted a traffic stop on a black Chevrolet Colorado for a rear tail light being out.

According to the complaint, during the stop, the passenger, Michael Dixon, who was the registered owner of the vehicle, was asked if he would like to look at the tail light, and he exited the vehicle to look at it. For officer safety reasons, Trooper Pisano asked to pat Dixon down.

The complaint notes Dixon then became very nervous, putting his hands in his pockets after being asked to keep them out, and he asked why the pat-down was requested. Trooper Pisano then informed Dixon he could see the digital scale in his front hoodie pocket.

According to the complaint, Dixon then removed a gray bag containing a digital scale with residue on it and stated he “found it on the ground earlier.”

A search of Dixon revealed the digital scale, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, and a syringe and a search of the vehicle also revealed his wallet, containing $670.00, of which $620.00 was banded together in increments of $100.00, according to the complaint.

These are indicators of a person dealing controlled substances, the complaint notes.

During an interview, Dixon stated the scale was for “personal use” and said someone “gave him the drugs for free.” He also said the money was for a PS5 for his children, according to the complaint.

Dixon was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 9:50 a.m. on February 18, on the following charges:

– Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver, Felony
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor

He remains free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
