JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man who allegedly threatened to “murder” two people while he was being evicted from a residence is due back in court on Thursday.
Court documents indicate 55-year-old Michael Leroy McClure is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 2:15 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, on the following charges:
– Terroristic Threats With Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Disorder Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary
The charges stem from an incident in Bell Township in late May.
Details of the case:
According to a criminal complaint, around 10:29 a.m. on May 24, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to a business on State Route 36 in Bell Township, Jefferson County, for a disturbance related to an eviction incident.
The complaint states a known victim reported she and her son were threatened by Michael Leroy McClure while the eviction was taking place.
The victim reportedly told police that McClure owed back rent from the past three years and the eviction was scheduled for May 24. She stated that Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies came and ordered McClure out of the residence, and as he exited, he approached her and said he was going to “murder” her and “smash her brains in.”
The complaint notes the victim told police she was in fear for her life because she believed McClure would come to her residence and harm her.
Police also interviewed the victim’s son, who reportedly stated he witnessed McClure making the threats to the victim. He also told police that McClure pointed at him and stated “I will murder you, you are done.”
The charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on May 26.
