Punxsy Man Escapes Injuries in Tractor-Trailer Rollover Crash

HUSTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Punxsutawney man escaped injuries in a tractor-trailer rollover crash that occurred on Route 255 late last week.

According to DuBois-based State Police, the accident happened around 1:13 a.m. on November 26, on State Route 255/Bennetts Valley Highway, just east of Caliari Road in Huston Township, Clearfield County.

Police say 20-year-old Erik J. Bowser, of Punxsutawney, was operating a 2003 Freightliner truck, traveling west on State Route 255 when he veered off the north side of the road and swiped a utility pole with the trailer. After hitting the utility pole, the vehicle continued west off the north side of the road and struck a culvert, then overturned. It came to a final rest on its passenger side off the north side of the road.

Bowser was able to exit the vehicle safely. Police say he was using a seat belt and was not injured.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Bloom’s Towing.

Bowser was cited for a traffic violation.
