Punxsy Man Flown to UPMC Altoona Following Gaskill Township Crash

GASKILL TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man was flown to UPMC Altoona following a crash in Gaskill Township on Monday evening.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 8:10 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 75-year-old Leonard L. Weaver, of Punxsutawney, was driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 traveling east on Robertsville Road at its intersection with Lipp Road in Gaskill Township, Jefferson County.

Police say Weaver was driving too fast for conditions and failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. He lost control of his vehicle, slid through the intersection, and struck an embankment.

He suffered multiple injuries and was flown to UPMC Altoona for treatment.

He was not using a seat belt.

The vehicle was towed by Brosius Towing.

Weaver was charged with a traffic violation.

Jefferson County EMS and Big Run Area Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.
