He adds, “No matter what supporting your volunteer fire company is a good cause that should never be forgotten.”

Punxsy Pizza & Prevention is proudly supported by the Punxsutawney Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Kengersky Insurance Agency, which, during the event, will supply a free smoke detector and batteries to any home that needs one. (There is a limit of one smoke detector per household in need.)

“At its’ conception, this event was a way of commemorating the tragedy of 9/11. I needed to recognize our hometown heroes and all they do for us. The basic concept was a community event designed to promote disaster prevention & introduce the community to their volunteer firefighters.”

The timing of the event was moved from September 11th to October for logistical reasons. October is National Pizza Month, and the first full week of October is dubbed Fire Prevention Week.

Punxsy Pizza will donate 100 percent of the profits from Pizza & Prevention to the Punxsutawney Fire Department.
