Punxsy Police Seeking Rockton Man After High-Speed Motorcycle Chase


PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) — Punxsutawney Borough Police are searching for a 38-year-old man who led them on a high-speed chase last week.

Around 7:39 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, police attempted to stop a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by 38-year-oldRonald Lee Maines, Jr., of Rockton, for several traffic violations.

Maines fled from police, driving through the downtown and a residential neighborhood before he lost control and crashed into an embankment near Mahoning Creek at Harmon Field municipal park.

Maines was injured and taken to Altoona Hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, August 30, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed the following charges against Maines in Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers’ office:

– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, Misdemeanor 2
– Failure To Stop At Red Signal, Summary
– Duties At Stop Sign, Summary (four counts)
– Driving at Safe Speed, Summary
– Careless Driving, Summary (two counts)
– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2
– Driving W/O A License, Summary
– Use Improper Class Of License, Summary
– Driving While Operating Privilege Suspended Or Revoked, Summary
– Obscured Plates – Illegible at Reasonable Distance, Summary
– Operating Veh W/O Valid Inspection, Summary
– No Rearview Mirror, Summary
– No Headlights, Summary
– Turning Movements And Required Signals, Summary (two counts)

A warrant for Maines’ arrest has been issued.
