Punxsy Woman Accused of Public Intoxication, Receiving Stolen Property

(EYT) – Police say a Punxsutawney woman was charged with public intoxication, receiving stolen property, and other offenses from an incident that occurred at Punxsy Plaza, in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

Around 6:58 p.m. on December 22, Punxsutawney Borough Police were summoned to Punxsy Plaza for a report of an intoxicated female at the West End Uni-Mart.

Police officers arrived and observed the known Punxsutawney woman leaning over a counter in Uni-Mart spilling a soda pop onto the floor. The woman had impaired balance, slurred speech, glassy eyes, and was emanating a strong odor of a malt brew or otherwise intoxicating beverage from her person, police say.

Through the course of the investigation into the incident, the suspect was also found to have a stolen registration plate from West Virginia affixed to her vehicle, according to police.

A criminal complaint was filed against the suspect in Magisterial District Judge Douglas Robert Chambers’ office charging her with Receiving Stolen Property, Public Intoxication, and multiple vehicle code infractions.
