Punxsy Woman Injured in Interstate 80 Rollover Crash

State Police patchUNION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 20-year-old woman was injured yesterday in a one-vehicle accident in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Punxsutawney-based State Police say the crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile marker 74.2.

Police say Maija E. Carol, 20, of Punxsutawney, was attempting to negotiate a slight right-hand curve when her vehicle slid into the left lane of the icy roadway.

Carol attempted to regain control of her vehicle, but it continued to slide out of control and rotated approximately 270 degrees in a forward clockwise motion across the roadway before striking an embankment.

Afer Carol’s vehicle struck the embankment, it barrel-rolled at least one full revolution before coming to a final
rest upright in the right lane facing northwest.

She was transported to Penn Highlands in Brookville for treatment of unknown injuries.

Brookville VFC, Corsica VFD, Jefferson County EMS, and Leadbetter Towing assisted at the scene.
