Rainstorm Causes One-Vehicle Crash in Sandy Township; One Injured

Police car lightsSANDY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, around 4:25 p.m. on May 1, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 East, at the 99.6 mile marker, in Sandy Township, Clearfield County.

Police say 58-year-old Ronnie J. Richmond, of London, OH, was traveling east in the left lane on I-80 and lost control of his 2012 Chrysler Town and Country during a rainstorm. The vehicle slid north off the roadway, and the front of the vehicle struck the guide rails along the north berm. The vehicle rotated in a counterclockwise motion and came to a rest in the left lane, facing west.

Richmond was able to drive his vehicle onto the south berm of the roadway, just west of the point of impact.

Richmond was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Two passengers – 30-year-old Christa A. Severance and 35-year-old Jobe Tedder, both of London, OH – were using seat belts and were not injured.

Another passenger – 34-year-old Ronnie J. Richmond, of London, OH – suffered suspected minor injuries.

He was using a seat belt.

The driver was charged with a traffic violation.
