Ralph Arthur Nelson, Sr., 60 of Punxsutawney died Friday, August 1, 2014 at Alle-Kiski Hospital in Natrona Heights.
He was born on January 16, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey, a son of Ralph A. Nelson and Joan (Sandominick) Nelson. They both survive and reside in Elkton, Virginia.
On May 10, 1975 he married the former Christine Ann Tomaszfski. She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
Mr. Nelson worked in Technical Sales Support for Ametek, which is a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices, located in Blawnox, PA.
His enjoyments were hunting, fishing and watching the Steelers, and spending time with his golden retriever “Bud”.
He was a member of the Moose #954 in Punxsutawney.
In addition to his parents and wife Chris, he is survived by one son, Ralph A. Nelson, Jr. and wife Tricia of the Poconos; one granddaughter, Skylar Nelson; two brothers, Tom Nelson and wife Lori of Elkton, VA, and Donald Nelson of Staunton, VA; four sisters, Cathy Mende and husband Allen of Hersey, Joann Flynn and husband Larry of Elkton, VA, Carole Lam of Elkton, VA, and Diane Casamassa and husband Greg of Hershey.
Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Nelson’s memory to the American Cancer Society, Colon Cancer Research.
