Raymond C. Bachelier

Raymond C. Bachelier, 88 of Butler Street, Brookville, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 17, 2013.

Raymond was born June 16, 1925, in Grampian, PA, the son of Harry P. Bachelier and Marion Kendall Bachelier. He married Margaret Chelgren, the love of his life for 65 years, on November 11, 1947. She survives along with their daughter, Lila M. Bachelier of Brookville, sisters Kathryn Peretti of Florida, Helen Bonsall of Maryland, Becky Garner and husband James of Alabama, Janet Phillips of Virginia, brother Samuel Bachelier and wife Grace of Grampian, PA, sister-in-law Dorothy Leach of Curwensville, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip Bachelier.

Raymond enlisted in the United States Army and served with the 3522nd Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company in World War II on the European Front where he received the Purple Heart.

A graduate of DuBois Business College, he began his banking career at Curwensville State Bank and became President of Brookville Bank and Trust Company in 1965. Raymond went on to become President of Unibank and retired as Vice Chairman of S & T Bank in 1988.

Raymond was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Brookville.

A strong believer in community, civic, and philanthropic activities, he was Lt. Governor of Kiwanis, board member of the Regional Industrial Development
Authority, the YMCA, United Way, Wesley Woods United Methodist Camp, Treasurer of the Bucktail Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and served on various other community boards throughout his career.

For decades Raymond was an active member of Pinecrest Country Club, and loved the game of golf. He enjoyed traveling with his family both abroad
and throughout the United States. He was an avid camper and spent many winters in Naples, Florida.

Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A Celebration of Life and
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Brookville with the Rev. Sharon Schwab and Rev. Don Henderson officiating.

Interment will be in The Friends Cemetery in Grampian, PA.
