Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library Hosting Poetry Contest in April

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Rebecca M. Arthurs Memorial Library is hosting its 21st Annual Poetry Contest during the month of April.

The deadline for the contest is April 29, 2016.

Any style of poetry – 1 to 40 lines – will be accepted. Entries will be judged on originality, clarity, and imagery.

When submitting poems, include a cover sheet containing poem title, author’s name, address, phone number, and email address. Also indicate the category as follows:

JE (Juvenile, up to 12 years old)

YA (Young Adult, age 13 to 17)

A (Adult, 18 and over)

All entries must be typed, single spaced, on one sheet of 8 1/2″ x 11″ plain white paper in Time New Roman 12 pt. font with no artwork or photos. Omit author’s name on the manuscript.

Mail, fax, email, or hand deliver entries to the library.

Winners will receive prizes and have the opportunity to read their poetry at an awards presentation on Saturday, May 21, at 1:00 p.m. Photos will be taken of the winners for local media.
