Red Cross Western PA Region Hires Pittsburgh Native to Assume Communications Director Position

tobin-danPITTSBURGH, Pa. – The American Red Cross Western Pennsylvania Region has hired Pittsburgh native Dan Tobin as its new Director of Marketing and Communications.

Tobin, who currently works for the American Red Cross Central Pennsylvania Region based in Harrisburg, will assume the position on November 7 and will handle the communications needs for the 28-county western Pennsylvania region.

“I’m excited for this new opportunity that enables me to move home after many years of living away,” said Tobin. “Red Cross staff and volunteers dedicate countless hours each and every day to helping those whose lives have been affected by local, regional, and national disasters, many of which are home fires. I love sharing the Red Cross story and look forward to educating my hometown community about how the Red Cross helps people to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters big and small.”

Tobin grew up in the North Hills and began his career as a producer at various Pittsburgh radio stations before moving to Boston in the mid-1990s.

For over 20 years, he has held positions in corporate communications/public relations in the nonprofit, education, and public sectors.

Since June of 2015, he has been with the American Red Cross Central Pennsylvania Region, where he has overseen the communications operation for a 22-county area.
