Registration Open for Dancer’s Studio Tap Camp Set for June 13, 14

IMG_2976CLARION, Pa. (EYT) – Dancer’s Studio LLC is offering a Tap Camp on June 13 and June 14.

A-Jo Gallagher, owner of Dancer’s Studio, will be the teacher for this camp.

The registration deadline is June 5, and the class is open to new students ages 6 to 11.

The cost is $35.00 for levels 4 to 6 and $40.00 for levels 8 to 9. For new students ages 6 to 11, please email Dancer’s Studio for proper level placement.

Dancer’s Studio specializes in dance and musical theatre.

Its safe and positive environment makes the facility the perfect place to hone students’ skills.

Tap Camp Instructor – A-Jo Gallagher

AJo photo 1A-Jo Gallagher grew up in Altoona but fell in love with Clarion while attending Clarion University. Several years after graduating from Clarion University she fulfilled her dream when she purchased Dancer’s Studio in 2010. Being able to combine her passion for dancing, and her love of teaching to each of her students is a dream come true. The focus of A-Jo’s career is to train dancers. Her goal is to see every dancer nurtured to their fullest potential for their own well-being and their contribution to the world.

A-Jo has been dancing for well over 25 years and teaching for 17 years. She has completed her fourth year and tested in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz at the Teacher Training School through Dance Masters of America at the University at Buffalo. Her training includes master classes at Broadway Dance Center, Edge Performing Arts Center in LA, and many hip-hop workshops throughout the country with Monsters of Hip Hop. She taught for Marching Auxiliaries and Dance, a company from Texas, and in 2011, was a guest hip-hop teacher for the company Intrigue. A-Jo attends many conventions with her competition teams that keep her inspired by the new trends in the dance world. At these conventions, she also takes classes from some of the most sought after dance teachers in the United States.

Through the years, she has taught at numerous studios, for both high school and collegiate dance teams. Since owning Dancer’s Studio, several of her students have been accepted into Joffrey Ballet School for Jazz/Contemporary and Ballet summer intensives. They have also been accepted into the year round training program, The American Tap Company, and the Rockette Summer Intensive. Several of her students have had the opportunity to dance in New York City at Alvin Ailey CitiGroup Theatre and have been accepted into prestige dance schools such as Point Park University, University at Buffalo, Mercyhurst, Kent State, Youngstown State, Slippery Rock, Fashion Institute of Technology (which just started a new dance program), and Joffrey Ballet School.

A-Jo has had many students win scholarships to Alvin Ailey School in New York City; Broadway Dance Center in New York City; Monsters of Hip Hop Finale in LA, California; Monsters of Hip Hop in Orlando, Florida; West Coast Dance Explosion; The Collective in LA, California; and Jump, Nuvo, Intrigue, Dance Makers, and Slide in New York City. Her students have won many state and national awards in several genres of dance including choreography and entertainment awards. Not only does she focus on technique and choreography AJo’s community involvement and volunteering has also opened up many performance opportunities for her students in the community.

Because of her dedication of sharing the art of dance throughout the community, she was the 2013 recipient of the Business Owner Neighborhood Star Award for Most Influential Business Owner. In 2014, she received the Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Community Service Award and the Visionary Award at Intrigue Dance Competition for the most innovative and memorable dance of the weekend. In 2015, her Junior Competition Team won the “Entertainment Award” out of more than 350 routines, and for the second year, she was the recipient of the Visionary Award at Intrigue Dance Competition for the most innovative and memorable dance of the weekend. In April of 2015, her studio was selected to hold auditions for The American Tap Company. She is a member of Clarion County Chamber of Commerce and was selected to be the new chair for the Miss/Mr. ALF Scholarship Program in 2013. A-Jo is excited to start her third year as the Miss/Mr. ALF Scholarship Program director.

A-Jo is a member of Dance Masters of America, Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter #10, and Dance Educators of America.
