Resurfacing Project to Begin on River Road in Barnett Twp.

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. – A construction project that will give motorists a smoother ride on almost three miles of River Road (Route 2002) in Barnett Township, Forest County is scheduled to start next week.

The project will improve 2.75 miles of the River Road along the Clarion River from the intersection with Route 36 to near the intersections with Black River Junction and John Long Way.

Work will involve base repairs and resurfacing, as well as updated guiderail and pavement markings.

Construction is expected to begin on April 25, 2019, weather permitting, and is scheduled for completion by May 23, 2019.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., of State College, PA. The contract cost is $981,009, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

This project was made possible by Act 89, Pennsylvania’s transportation funding plan.

Daylight detours are expected during times that work is taking place. A detour will be posted using Route 899 and Route 36.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
