Reta M. (LaBorde) Hockin

Reta M. (LaBorde) Hockin, 96, DuBois, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.

Born April 19, 1921, in Home Camp, PA, she was the daughter of the late Orvin and Catherine (Miller) LaBorde.

She married Robert J. “Bob” Hockin on June 7, 1946. He preceded her in death in November of 2002.

Reta attended Home Camp School and was a lifelong resident of the DuBois Area. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, who enjoyed spending time with her family.

Her hobbies included quilting, canning, and baking. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Richard (Barbara) Platt, DuBois, Janet Matson, DuBois, Mrs. Tim (Charlene) Stanton, Rockton, and Diane Samuels, Heathrow, Florida, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, and a sister, Wava (Deen) Oakes, Pittsburgh.

In addition to her parents and husband, Reta was preceded in passing by seven sisters, Grace Hollopeter, Josephine Zimmerman, Audrey Hobbs, Veda Dempsey, Betty Heilbrun, and two infant sisters, Esther and Bernice LaBorde, and seven brothers, Merle “Pete”, James, Harry “Dan”, Kenneth “Pat”, William, and Fonne LaBorde, and an infant brother, Orvin LaBorde.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, August 10th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and Friday, August 11th from 9-10 a.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc.

A funeral service will be held Friday, August 11th at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Rev. Ron Biddle officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
