Rev. Lloyd E. Getch

Rev. Lloyd E. Getch, 79, of Anita, passed away on Sunday November 07, 2021 at Penn Highlands, DuBois.

He was born September 14, 1942 to Joseph N. and Harriet (Jacobson) Getch in Punxsutawney.

Lloyd attended Punxsutawney Area High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany where he was a peace time veteran.

Lloyd then graduated from the Western Pennsylvania Bible Institute and was an active an ordained minister for 42 years with the Assembly of God Church.

He pastored four churches, Hillsdale Assembly of God, Palmyra Assembly of God and Apollo Assembly of God.

After Lloyd retired, he was asked to pastor the Anita Assembly of God, where he was active for three years.

He kept active at his current church, New Beginnings Church, where he was assistant pastor.

He served as Chaplin for both the Apollo Volunteer Fire Department and the McCalmont Volunteer Fire Department and as an active fireman.

Lloyd was an active baseball player for the Anita ball team in his younger years. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid hunter, camping, and most importantly he loved his family.

He is survived his wife of 58 years, Marlene (Johnson) Getch, Anita, a daughter, Tricia Stick, Punxsutawney, PA, two sons, Jonathan Sprague and wife Susan, Harrisburg, PA, Steven Getch and wife Jodi, Lebanon, ten grandchildren, Heidi Johnson, Nancy Marion, Chris Sprague, Nicole Young, Tiffani Amber Sprague, Jacob Sprague, Andrew Getch, Alex Getch, Tyler Stick and Sean Stick, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Caroline Meckley, and husband Mike, Mahaffey, Diane Startzell and husband Bill, Big Run, two brothers, Robert Getch and wife Debbie, Anita, David Getch and wife Sandy, Cranberry and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Daniel Sprague, three sisters, Donna Getch, Barbara Anthony, Velma Getch, four brothers, Joseph (Buddy), Jimmy, John (Sonny) and Greg Getch.

Friends will be received on Friday from 3-7 PM at the McCabe Funeral Home Inc, 114 Maple Ave., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Friends will also be received on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at New Beginnings Church, 2785 Walston Road, Punxsutawney, PA 15767.

Interment will take place at K of P Cemetery, Anita, PA
