Rev. Robert C. Henry

Rev. Robert C. Henry, age 89, a resident in the personal care unit of Christ the King Manor died on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Penn Highlands Dubois.

He was the son of the late D. Blaine and Eleanor Patterson Henry. At a very young age, Rev. Henry’s mother passed away and his father then married Iva D. Drolsbaugh. On December 30, 1960, he married Jeanne Hendry and she survives.

He was born on August 31, 1931, on a farm in Juniata County, and this is where he was raised. He graduated in 1948 from Juniata Joint High School in Mifflintown. He eventually decided to become a minister and traveled out to Sterling, Kansas, to attend a Presbyterian College. He got through college by working at a local greenhouse and during the summer worked at a wholesale greenhouse in Chicago. In the evenings, he worked at a mission on skid row. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and became an Ordained Minister at the Monaghan Presbyterian Church in Dillsburg. He then moved to a 2 church charge, the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church and the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church where he spent many many years as the pastor.

After his retirement from these charges, in 1998, he became the minister of the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church until he officially retired completely, preaching his last sermon on December 31, 2017.

Rev. Henry enjoyed collecting antique glassware, going to flea markets, making maple syrup, quilting, gardening and being in the outdoors. Perhaps his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and his church family.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by 2 sons, Rob (Jana) Henry of Lewis Center, Ohio, and David (Elisha) Henry of Falls Creek, PA; 2 sisters, Janet (Rusty) Fisher of Granville, PA; Carol (Barry) Ensminger of Chambersburg, PA; 3 brothers: Ray (Ruth) Henry of East Waterford, PA; Max (Pat) Henry of McCoysville, PA and Dick (Susan) Henry of Lewistown, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jessica, Alex, Ryan, Andrea, Austin and Benjamin and one great granddaughter, Madelyn.

There will be no public visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday January 27 at 1:00 PM at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church with Pastors Dave and Emily Koehler officiating. Social distancing protocols will be observed and masks are required. Burial will follow in the Beechwoods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church, the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church or the Falls Creek Presbyterian Church.
