Richard E. “Dick” Simpson, age 83, of Corsica, PA, passed away on Saturday morning, August 29, 2015, at the Brookville Hospital.
Dick was born April 13, 1932 in Corsica, PA, a son of the late Emery and Sadie (Himes) Simpson. He was married to Nancy K. Rossey for over 62 years, beginning on January 14, 1953. Nancy survives him.
He served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne. He worked for Alltel Phone Company and retired from there after 42 years. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church in Corsica, PA; the Corsica Vol. Fire Dept.; Hobah Lodge 276; and the Clarion Legion.
He enjoyed serving the Lord, managing the Corsica Astros in his early years, he had a love for the Pirates and his John Deere tractor.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by 4 sons, Rick (Diane) Simpson, Stub Simpson, Chris (Lisa) Simpson, and Gus (Tina) Simpson, all of Corsica, PA; 1 daughter, La Shonda (Jim) Wolfgang of Kane, PA; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by 4 sisters, Dorothy Smith, Donna Heasley, Kay Simpson, all from Corsica, PA, and Charlotte Selman of Waynesboro; 1 brother, Dale Simpson of Lancaster, PA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Pete Himes, Bud Simpson, Paul Simpson; 2 sisters, Mary Medsgar and Norma Jean Definbaugh; and his daughter-in-law Joyce Simpson.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, August 31, 2015, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, from 10-11am at the Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church on Rt. 322 in Corsica, PA, with a funeral service beginning at 11am in the same location.
Interment to take place at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Corsica, PA.
