Richard G. “Moe” Meterko, 79, of Punxsutawney, passed away suddenly on September, 23, 2015, at his home.
He was born on Febuary 9, 1936, in DeLancey, to the late John A. and Susan (Pluchinsky) Meterko.
On July 27, 1963, he married his wife, Anna Marie (Fusco) Meterko of Punxsutawney, who survives him.
He was a member of St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church.
He was a lifetime member of the Punxsutawney Eagles, and he was also a member of the 1950 Punxsutawney Little League State Championship team.
In addition to his wife, Anna Marie, he is survived by his brother, Andrew “Butch” Meterko and wife Rose of DeLancey; a sister-in-law, Adda Meterko; and numerous close nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John S. ‘Simon’ Meterko, and a nephew, John ‘Johnny’ Meterko.
Friends will be received from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. September 24, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney, where a Parastas will be held at 7:00 p.m.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on September 25, 2015, at St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Church, with the Fr. Simeon Sibenik as celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Peter & Paul Byzantine Cemetery.
