Richard L. “Dick” Wells

Dick WellsRichard L. “Dick” Wells, age 72, of Highland Street Ext. DuBois, Pa., died on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at his residence.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Theodore and Mary Hickman Wells.

On May 5, 1984, he was married to Shirley Shields and she survives.

Retired, he was the owner/operator of the Wells Garage in DuBois for 45 years.

He was Methodist by faith.

Dick loved watching racing, but he especially enjoyed getting in the car and participating. He raced in the late model division at the Clearfield Speedway, Motordome, Selings Grove and at Jennerstown Speedway. Another of his favorite things to do was have breakfast at the Bobette Diner in DuBois with his friends. Dick also enjoyed spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Shirley he is also survived by a daughter Tracy E. Wells of Brockway; two sons Richard “Ricky” (Dorothy) Wells Jr. of New Jersey and Troy G. Wells of DuBois; and a brother Robert “Red” (Pauline) Wells also of DuBois. He is also survived by a granddaughter Jessica Wells of Pittsburgh and a grandson Jace Carlson of Brockway.

Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother Ralph Wells.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Moorhead United Methodist Church in Brockway with Pastor Bob Trask officiating.

Burial will follow in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen.
