Richard Leroy Wolfe

Richard Leroy Wolfe, age 82, passed away peacefully in Brookville, PA, in the comfort of his home while surrounded by family on March 19, 2023.

He was born on October 15, 1940, to the late Leroy and Helen (Welsh) Wolfe in Brookville, PA.

He attended Brookville Area High School and graduated with the class of 1958.

Richard served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961.

He then married his loving wife Jean (Shick) Wolfe on October 13, 1962, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, PA, she survives.

They loved and cherished each other for just over sixty years of marriage.

Richard mainly worked as a union carpenter, as well as the caretaker of the Deemer Estates.

He was always around his house working on some type of project.

He enjoyed farming, hunting, and horseback riding on his property.

He also spent a lot of time doing carpentry around the house and farm.

Richard loved to explore and travel to new areas.

He and his wife drove all over North America, making memories that lasted a lifetime.

Above all, he loved spending time with his wife and family.

In addition to his wife Jean, Richard is survived by four children; Edward (Christine) Wolfe of Brookville, PA, Marsha (Bruce) Ackerman of Mechanicsburg, PA, Andrea (Fiancé Shawn Williams) Wonderling of Wilcox, PA, and Merlyn Wolfe; thirteen grandchildren; Mark Wolfe, Venessa Wolfe, Staci Wolfe, Amanda Wolfe, Michelle Rolshausen, Madalyn Ackerman, Maxwell Ackerman, Stephanie Wolfe, Ashley Wolfe, Kara Shirts, Cassandra Wonderling, Jonathan Wonderling, and Ryan Wonderling; two great grandchildren; Liam Shirts, and Cora Rolshausen; one sister; Norma Schuckers; his dog Rusty; and his horse Bob.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two sons; Mark Wolfe, and Stephen Wolfe; and one sister; Edna Smith.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 23, 2023, from 6 – 8 pm, at the Carrier Funeral Home, 2834 Maplevale Rd., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A modified prayer service will take place on Friday, March 24, 2023, also at the funeral home, beginning at 10:00 am, and officiated by Rev. William M. Laska.

Military honors will take place immediately following the service at the funeral home and presented by the Brookville Honor Guard.

Interment will take place privately by the funeral home at the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438, or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
