Richard V. Clapie

ClapieRichard V. Clapie, age 63, of Grapevine Road in Warsaw Twp., passed away peacefully in the comfortable surroundings of his home, on Sunday, June 12, 2016.

He was born on October 14, 1952, to the late Captain Al Clapie and Wilma (Massey) Clapie, while they were stationed in Germany.

Richard served his country as a member of the United States Army and he was honorably discharged after his dedicated service.

Richard was very intelligent and held degrees as an Electrical Engineer. For the past two decades he worked as a production manager specializing in powered metals. He loved electronics, especially radios, and he would tinker with them when he had time.

He was a Christian man and held the views of the Lutheran faith.

He was a lover of history, especially the Civil War. His family looked to him as the keeper of his family’s history.

He liked to travel and he would take his dog Nicky with him wherever he went; he was known as the “dog man” in a few different towns. He loved his work and he had a lot of fun with his co-workers. Richard was a kind, fun, and incredibly forgiving person who was dedicated to the well-being of those he knew; and all those who knew him, loved him. His warmth, optimism, and golden heart will always be deeply cherished.

Richard is survived by one brother; Ed (Kathy) Clapie of Springville, Utah; and one sister, Sandi (Bob) Crabtree of Cedar City, Utah; his neighbors Al and Barb Smith, and his friend Jerome, all who have done so much for him.

Richard will be interred with his parents at a national cemetery in Utah. Services will be held privately by his family in Utah. His arrangements are under the direction of the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, Ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, Pa., 15825.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Gateway Humane Society, 1211 Airport Rd., Falls Creek, Pa. 15840.
