Rick’s Racing Roundup: Strattanville’s Fink Picks up Win at Mercer Raceway

The All-Star Circuit of Champions invaded over the weekend and saw good car counts and big crowds both nights.

Friday night, Central Pennsylvania invader Logan Wagner continued his Lernerville dominance. The Harrisonville driver backed up his opening night win with his first career All-Star victory. Popular Pittsburgh driver Danny Holtgraver made his return to Lernerville an impressive one finishing second from his seventh starting spot while All-Star champion Chad Kemenah rounded out the podium.

The Allegheny Sprint Tour made its first ever visit to Lernerville, and Drew Ritchey made it a sweep for Central Pennsylvania sprint car drivers by dominating the 20-lap affair in his first-ever visit to the track. Rocky Kugel made it three wins in a row at Lernerville by winning the RUSH Crate Modified feature.

Lernerville will resume regular racing this Friday as Fab 4 racing returns with racing scheduled for 7:30 p.m. sharp. Along with all of the racing action the always popular holiday fireworks presented by #1 Cochran will also be presented.

After having to settle for a third-place finish Friday night defending All-Star champion Kemenah would not be denied Saturday at Mercer Raceway Park.

The Ohio chauffeur held off Indiana invader Parker Price-Miller for his second win of 2017 and extended his series point lead. Mercer regular Jack Sodeman Jr. was the highest finishing local with a fourth-place run.

305 sprint racer Landon LaLonde is taking a liking to Mercer Raceway. After scoring his first career win two weeks ago, the Ohio youngster returned this past Saturday and scored his second win in as many starts. Kyle Fink of Strattanville continued his hot streak scoring his third consecutive win in 358 modified competition.

This Saturday at Mercer all five regular divisions will return for Mid-Season Championship Night. It will also be “Meet Your Heroes Night” presented by Herr’s Snack Foods. Fans of all ages will have a chance to meet their favorite drivers, get pictures and autographs.

One of the biggest stock car races of the season took place Saturday at Pittsburgh Motor Speedway where the Penn-Ohio Pro Stock Series invaded for the Sixth Annual Ed Laboon Memorial. A huge field of 56 stock cars filled the pits for action. When it was all said and done it was Brookville driver Rusty Martz who took home over $2,500 after leading every lap of the feature event.

After making its first visit to Lernerville Friday the Allegheny Sprint Tour headed to Pittsburgh the following night where Greg Dobrosky picked up the win. Regular racing will return to the monster half mile this Saturday highlighted by the super late models. The 410 sprint car race that was advertised has been removed from the schedule as the sprint cars will headline at Mercer.

This Saturday at Sharon Speedway it will be Fan Appreciation Night. All fans will be admitted to the grandstands for FREE. The big block Modifieds will headline the program along with the other regular weekly classes. Fans will also be able to get autographs from their favorite drivers. It will also be Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Night with racing scheduled for 7 p.m.
