Ridgway Man Escapes Injury in One Vehicle Crash on Route 219

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police say around 6:15 a.m. on January 12, a one vehicle accident occurred on State Route 219, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, Benjamin S. Gnan, 32 of Ridgway, was traveling north on S.R. 219 in a 2011 Jeep Commander and began sliding on the road surface while negotiating a right hand curve, approximately 1936 feet north of Harveys Run Road.

The vehicle spun in a counterclockwise direction then continued in a northward direction, crossing over into the southbound lane of travel and exiting the west side of the roadway, striking the guiderail with the front end causing major damage.

The vehicle then continued northbound, crossing over both lanes of travel before coming to rest facing east on the north side berm.

The driver was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Gnan was charged with a traffic violation.
