Clarion County 911 says the call came in at 4:47 p.m. for a report of a one-vehicle accident with entrapment.

According to Clarion-based State Police Tpr. Doverspike, 41-year-old Kenneth “Shane” Kriebel was traveling east on State Route 58 and had just passed another vehicle when he lost control of his 2014 Ford Focus.

Kriebel’s car traveled off the south side of the roadway and sheared off a utility pole.

The vehicle then began to spin counter-clockwise and struck a tree before coming to a final rest.

Kriebel was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Clarion County Coroner Terry Shaffer and Chief Deputy Coroner Randall Stom were dispatched around 6:00 p.m.

Kriebel was pronounced dead at the scene by Shaffer.

Police say the impact with the utility pole caused live electric wires to hang over the vehicle.

Central Electric Cooperative, Callensburg VFD, Perry Twp. VFD, Sligo VFD, and Southern Clarion County EMS were also dispatched.

The roadway was closed for several hours following the accident.
