The world lost a special man on Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018. On that sad day, Robert Bradley “Brad” Johnson passed away at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh due to complications related to his long battle with cancer.
Born on April 30, 1948, in Grove City, he was the son of the late Robert E. Johnson and Betty (Johnson) Schneider. Brad was a graduate of Clarion Area High School and Penn State.
Brad served his community in a variety of ways over the course of his life. After serving in the infantry in Vietnam, he came home to manage hotels in the area, work for C&K Coal, own two local businesses, and finally settled into his role as an insurance agent for Nationwide, where he took pride in helping people plan for the future and protect the things that matter most. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Elks, the Eagles, the Jaycees, the American Legion, and the Clarion Mason Lodge 277 where he attained the 32nd Degree.
He and Jan trekked to Pittsburgh regularly to see the Pens play hockey from 1984 to the latest Stanley Cup season, and enjoyed season tickets to the Steelers for almost as long. He also gave back to the community he loved by serving on the Clarion School Board and the board of Pinecrest Country Club in Brookville, PA where he was a member and had played with his family since he was 5 years old.
Brad loved golfing, living and working at Pine Lakes, his home in the great outdoors, dogs, boating on the river, fishing, hunting, happy hours, and spending time with his friends and family. He has been dearly loved, and he will be dearly missed.
Brad is survived by his beloved wife Janet in Sigel, PA; his son Robert Benjamin Johnson, who lives with his partner Joanna in Carlsbad, CA; and his daughter Elizabeth Casserly who lives in West Hartford, CT with her husband Michael and Brad’s two grandchildren, Alric and Lyra Casserly. Sandra Helsel, Brad’s sister, also survives him; she lives in Williamsburg, VA with her husband Dave, and their three daughters and her four grandchildren are nearby. Brad/“Do-Do”/“Unc” touched all of their lives.
Brad was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Johnson Schneider, and father, Robert E. Johnson.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. In accordance with his wishes, there will be an informal Celebration of Life at Pinecrest Country Club on Friday, April 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
