Robert “Bob” J. Rowan

Robert RowanRobert “Bob” J. Rowan, age 87, of Hastings St., in Brookville, PA, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 6, 2016.

He was born on February 24, 1929, in Brookville, PA, to the late Irvin Roy and Orpha (Fenstemaker) Rowan. On June 25, 1950, he married Doris L. (Osborne) Rowan in Brookville, PA. Doris preceded him in passing on January 7, 2006. F

or 42 years he worked for the Pittsburgh & Shawmut Railroad of Brookville. Bob was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, #983, in Brookville, PA; the Roseville Independent Chapel, and the National Rifle Association. He loved to do gardening and landscaping. He was very good with his hands and enjoyed wood-working and could be found making different kinds of crafts. One of his favorite crafts to make was turkey calls. He loved his turkey calls and enjoyed giving them to his friends and family, encouraging them to practice and do better at calling them in. Bob loved to hunt and would be considered a world class turkey hunter; spring gobbler season was his most favorite time of the year.

He loved his family and most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob is survived by 2 sons, James L. (Janice) Rowan of Brookville, PA; and Thomas W. (Christine) Rowan of Harrisburg,PA; 1 sister, Ruby Irwin of Euchipa, CA; 2 brothers, Verlon (Virginia) Rowan and Richard “Ray” (Helen) Rowan of Brookville, PA; 5 grandchildren, Brian (Shelley) Rowan, Brenda (Brad) Esposito, Lauren (Tyler) Glass, Mari (Chad) Chubb, and Michael Rowan; 6 great-grandchildren, Garrett Rowan, Brice Rowan, Alex Esposito, Zane Esposito, Alison Esposito, and Grayson Glass.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-9pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A second visitation will take place on Thursday, March 10, 2016, from 10am-11am at the Roseville Independent Chapel, 3381 Route 322, Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held immediately following the second visitation at the Church, beginning at 11am, with Pastor Jim
Fillhart officiating.

Interment will take place at the Brookville Cemetery, in Brookville PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Roseville Independent Chapel.
