Robert D. Coleman Sr.

colemanRobert D. Coleman Sr., 82, of Sligo, formally of Summerville, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Saint John’s Specialty Care in Mars.

He was born April 29, 1932 in Clarion and was the son of Paul and Gertrude Downs Coleman.

Robert married on September 19, 1950 to the former Mary Lu Rankin; who survives.

In his early years he worked at Brockway Glass, he then drove truck for R & H trucking, Snyder Trucking and National Freight, and after that he became an owner operator truck driver.

Robert enjoyed farming, raising horses, and trail rides.

He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Bible Church in Summerville. He was also a member of the VFW in Clarion.

Robert is survived by his wife, two daughters, Linda Lalonda and husband Tom of Florida and Cathy Johnson and husband Mike of Sligo, one son, Robert Coleman Jr. and wife Charlotte of Summerville, seven grandchildren, Regina Evans and husband Curt of Ohio, Alissa Wargo and husband Steve of Ohio, John Cassell of Florida, Kim Adkins and husband Roy of Kingsville, Matthew Coleman and wife Robin of Summerville, Robert Coleman III and wife Martina of Shannondale, and Brittany Coleman of Summerville, also survived by his great grandchildren, Jaiden Quinn, Curt Evans Jr., Matthew Coleman, Royce and Ethan Adkins, Camden and Mason Coleman, Arynne and Abygale Wargo, and Kaylee Cassel; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rex and Jack Coleman, and a niece, Ruth Ann Coleman.

Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion is handling arrangements.

Time and place of survives will be announced at a later date.
