Robert D. “Shag” Slovinsky

Robert SlovinskyRobert D. “Shag” Slovinsky, 56, Rockton, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at his home.

Born June 24, 1960 in Ravena, OH, he was the son of the late Donald and Genevieve (Agnello) Slovinsky Sr.

On June 7, 2016, he married Colleen Brown. She survives.

Robert graduated from Punxsutawney HS and later earned an associate’s degree in criminology.

Over the years, he was employed by the Jefferson County Task Force and Sheriff’s Department, Treasure Lake security, and several municipal police departments.

He was Catholic by faith. As an artist, he loved music, telling jokes, and writing poetry.

Robert is survived by four children, Josh Slovinsky, Punxsutawney, Rachelle Slovinsky, Rossiter, Joe (Mandy) Torrell, Sykesville, and Sarah Torrell, Rockton; eight grandchildren, Davin, Rayleigh, Colten, Maverick, Brayden, Kylee, Cameron, and Morgan, whom he loved spending time with; three siblings, Mary LaBelle, Diane Hanley, both of Punxsutawney, and Don Slovinsky Jr., Big Run; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Rick Slovinsky.

Friends and family will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. in DuBois.

A funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. David Nagele officiating.

Although flowers are appreciated, donations may be made in Robert’s name to the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc.
