Robert D. Weitzel

OI780418896_WeitzelphotoRobert D. Weitzel Jr., 61, of Hill Top Lane Brockway, Pa., died on Sunday May 3, 2015 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Born in DuBois, Pa, on October 24, 1953 he was the son of the late Robert D. and Jayne E. Campbell Weitzel Sr. On December 29, 1989 he was married to Marcia Benson and she survives.

Bob was the plant manager at Brockway Mould. He was methodist by faith.

Bob was a member of Garfield Lodge #559 Free and Accepted Masons in DuBois; and was a member of the Valley of Coudersport Free Masons.

Currently he was serving as Vice President of Priority 1st Credit Union in Brockway, and was past president of the Brockway Recreational Board.

He also was a member of the Brockway and Horton Twp. Sportsmens Clubs; the Eagles Club in Falls Creek and the Big O Club in DuBois.

While a student at the DuBois High School, Bob excelled in both football and baseball.

After high school he attended the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport.

He was an avid Penn State fan, enjoyed golfing and most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a daughter Elizabeth Weitzel of Brockway, two brother in laws: Kevin (Karen) Benson of Pittsburgh and Christopher (Stephanie) Benson of Brockway; two nephews: Andrew and Anthony Benson both of Brockway; one sister: Barbara (Raymond) Young of DuBois and a Niece Lori and a nephew Rick.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 6 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. also at the funeral home.

On Thursday morning, it is asked that you proceed directly to the church and not to the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Jacqueline DeMarco Student Loan Fund in care of the Brockway High School.
