Robert David Gerber

Robert David Gerber, 79, of Sigel, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

He was born on June 27, 1941, to the late William Henry and Geraldine (Griffith) Gerber in Ernest, PA.

He attended and graduated from high school in Indiana, PA. He married Mary Bashioum on February 14, 1989; Mary survives him. Robert proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1962 to 1965. He worked as a machinist for Westinghouse Electric Company for twenty-nine years and retired from Penn Machine in Blairsville, PA.

He and his wife were Methodist and attended the Edeburn United Methodist Church in Sigel, PA. Robert was also a member of the American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Indiana, PA. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a great carpenter as well as machinist and used his skills to build a home in the mountains for his wife and himself. Robert was capable of repairing or fixing anything.

He was a great man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Rafe) Lovelace; one sister, Donna Giannetto; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by two brothers, William Gerber, and Tom Gerber; and one sister, Dorothy George.

Services will be held privately by the family and have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
