Robert Dean Depp

Robert Dean Depp, 82, of Punxsutawney, passed away quietly on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Indiana Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on July 19, 1934, in Hamilton, PA, a son of the late J. Fred Depp and Katherine Beatrice (Braughler) Depp. Robert married his late wife, Donna Mae Rugh on May 17, 1952. Donna passed away on October 19, 2012. Robert dearly missed Donna upon her death and will now join her in Heaven after being together in marriage for over 60 years. They were inseparable doing everything together.

Mr. Depp was a hard working, industrious man having worked as a farmer, superintendent for Shawville Coal Company, and as the Perry Township Supervisor. Robert deeply loved his family and particularly cherished spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who referred to him as “Papa” and “Poppy”. As luck would have it, Robert loved his deserts which lent well to spending time with his great-grandchildren who liked their sweets as much as “Papa / Poppy”. When not spending much loved time with his family, Robert was in service to his Masonic Lodge in Clearfield as a Mason for over 32 years. He also enjoyed camping, flea markets, and Blue Grass music. Robert was a good man whom will be missed by so many; especially his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert is survived by three daughters; Trudy Sheesley and her husband Gary of Punxsutawney, Mona Carr and Jayme Humble also of Punxsutawney, and Connie Mesanko and her husband David of Gilbert, AZ. Papa/Poppy is also survived by four grandchildren; Dee Jay Sheesley and his wife Billie Joe, Amber Ewing and her husband Mark, Brandy Carr and Tyler Skinner, and Bobby Carr and Jenna Adams. His great-grandchildren are: Austin and Rylee Ewing, Mason Sheesley, Zane Carley, Karsen and Emerson Skinner, and Aubree Carr.

In addition to his loving wife Donna, Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Fred Depp.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 6 at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Tom Spiker.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Frostburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert’s memory to the Indiana Healthcare Foundation, Palliative Care Fund.
