Robert E. Young

FullSizeRenderRobert E. Young, 70, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born September 10, 1945 in Mayport, he was the son of the late Jacob D. and Margaret E. (Raybuck) Young. He was married on November 25, 1966 to Helen C. ( McNaughton ) Young, and she preceded him in death on January 2, 2013.

Mr. Young was a drag line operator for C&K Coal Company from 1972 to 2008. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Crates and the Knights of Columbus in New Bethlehem.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandra L. Ditty and her husband Randy of Hawthorn, Linda D. Young of Fairmount City, Cathy J. Young of New Bethlehem, three sons, Eric E. Young and his girlfriend Debbie of Warren, Gregory A. Young and his wife Christa of Carlsbad, California and Matthew A.

Young and his wife Amy of Distant, eight grandchildren, Jason Ditty, Kaleen Ditty, Brandon Young, Zayden Young, Trenton Keighley, David Young, Madeline Young, Caitlin Young and a great grandson, Rylin Ditty. Also surviving are four sisters, Lucy Freas of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, Dorothy Gruber and her husband Eugene of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, Patricia Edmonds and her husband William of New Bethlehem and Carolyn Hurrelbrink and her husband James of Knox, a brother, Jacob Young and his wife Catherine of Elkton, Oregon.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Schrecengost.

Friends will be received Friday, November 6, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Crates, with Reverend Father Sam Bungo officiating. Interment will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery in Crates.
