Robert Ellwood Snyder

Robert Ellwood Snyder, 87, of Falls Creek, passed away Thursday evening, February 16, 2017.

He was born September 29, 1929 in Warren, Pennsylvania, and was the son of Clarence and Edith (Stone) Snyder.

He is survived by his sons Michael A. Snyder of Falls Creek, Robert E. (Kim) Snyder Jr. of Clearfield, and daughter Roberta A. (Craig) Becker of Nazareth, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Shelby Snyder, Emma Snyder, Alyssa Adson, Kristen Becker and Erin Becker. He is also survived by two brothers, Fred Snyder of DuBois and Jack (Jean) Snyder of Falls Creek and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Falls Creek High School Class of 1950 and worked as a heavy equipment operator for a family owned coal business until his retirement.

A Protestant by faith, he was a lifelong member of the Falls Creek Eagles #965.

He was also a member of the DuBois American Legion #17 and VFW Post #813.

A Korean War Veteran, having served as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army where he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart and Korea Campaign Medals.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Interment will be at the Beechwood’s Cemetery with military honors, and a remembrance ceremony to be held for family and friends at a future date. Arrangements are under the direction of Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. of DuBois.
