Robert Gardner

Robert Gardner, 95, a lifelong resident of Ridgway, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 after a brief illness.

He was born July 11, 1919, in Ridgway, son of the late Elmer and Susie (Wilson) Gardner.

He was married to Genevieve M. Assalone on Feb. 10, 1945 at St. Leo’s Church. His only daughter, Kathleen Gardner, survives.


Robert retired as foreman for Ridgway Steel Fabricators. He served on various committees at Cayman Landing Campground. He enjoyed working outdoors with the soil, watching things grow, visiting with friends, and using his skills to fix most anything. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his sister, Mabel, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter, Elmer and Harry; and his sisters, Agnes and Martha.

Funeral services for Robert Gardner will be conducted at the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Peterson presiding. Interment will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice of charity.
