Robert H. Crosby

ViviCam 3765Robert H. Crosby, age 92, of Shaffer Road in Warsaw Twp., PA, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, PA.

He was born on July 17, 1923, in Allens Mills, PA, to the late Edgar and Floy (Shaffer) Crosby.

Robert served his country during World War II as a Private First Class, Company A, 148th Engineers Combat Battalion, 7th Corps, 1st Army. He fought in five major battles including the battle of Normandy. He also played a role in constructing the bridge over the Rhine River in Europe.

On December 22, 1949, he married Betty June Brownlee in Brookville PA.

He worked for O’Neil’s Clay Mine in Brookville for 24 years. He then spent an additional 24 years working for Ti-Brook Trailers in Brookville, PA; he was known at work as “Bing” Crosby. Robert also worked on his farm throughout his life.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Reynoldsville PA, and a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed carpentry; especially making toys. His main hobby, which he loved above all else, was providing for his family.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by 5 children, Doris (Tom) Hiles of Sarver, PA; Bobbie Jane (Miles) Doane of Brockway, PA: Robert “Bob” (Cindy) Crosby of Reynoldsville, PA; June (Steve) Mitchell of New Paris, IN; Roger (Gail) Crosby of Lansing, IL; 2 sisters, Blanche Marshall of Newfane, NY; Jean Moore of Kane, PA; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by 2 sisters, E. Isabel Brownlee and Laura Rhines; and 1 brother, Albert Crosby.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016, also at the McKinney-d’Argy Funeral Home, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and officiated by the Rev. Matthew Lemster.

Interment will take place at the Riggs Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, S. Findley St., Punxsutawney, PA, 15767.
